Day 3

This is a brainstorming day for the final art project. Based on your interests or curiosity, you will create art from "non art". You may refer to the Introduction page for inspiration and/or you may be inspired by the objects that were brought in for the Sorting activity on day 2! Focus on what is considered "taboo" today in the art world (graffiti, taxidermy, "fan art", etc.). Some examples of this project may be, creating a hypothetical piece of street art to be displayed in the art room, creating a fashion made out of taboo materials such as recyled materials or even duck tape, or designing a new video game character or game plot/landscape! The sky is the limit here! Remember to utilize your resources (Introduction page, sorting activity). As we have already discussed, what defines art can mean something different to anyone.

When creating your work of art, consider this:

How might others react to your work of art?

What might make your piece of art taboo?

Why do you consider this to be art?

Materials:

We are leaving this part up to you! When brainstorming for your art project, consider what materials make sense for your direction. Be experimental and don't be afraid to try something new! We are engaging in a WebQuest that focuses around the idea of "taboo"- how might you support this idea through the materials that you choose?
